Description:
This project will include the following: Acquire two ARFF trucks with 3000-gallon water with a 400-gallon foam tank. This truck will have 850 horsepower engines capable of going from 0-50 in 35 seconds, with a top speed of 70 mph. The truck will have all wheel drive and independent suspension capable of operating in hilly terrain. This truck has increased visibility for improved operator handling. This truck will have camera-assisted operating capability and provide pump and roll operations.

Justification:
The airport currently owns older ARFF vehicles which are 14-17 years old. ARFF vehicles should not be more than 15 years old. Due to the age of the trucks, maintenance is becoming more difficult as parts are hard to get. It is difficult to keep the older ARFF trucks running. The replacement vehicle has substantial deferred maintenance that will be avoided. Due to the older truck’s age there are increased chances of equipment failure, combined with more airfield to cover, which makes it increasingly difficult to respond within the required time frames. The new truck will provide better response capabilities for new large aircraft (NLA). The planned purchase of these trucks will allow the airport to surplus its current old vehicles with no loss in capability. With the projected growth and loss of mutual agreement with Kulis ANG these vehicles will be required to respond more often, which requires them to be more reliable. The new truck will allow faster response time and improved capability through using cameras, allowing the operators to see and be more effective with the spray systems during reduced visibility conditions.
