Description:
The demand/capacity analysis shows a need to expand from the current 6 SSCP lanes to 11 lanes. This significant expansion is driven by increased demand from up-gauging aircraft sizes (replacement of Q-400s and 737 Combi aircraft), the addition of five new gates and lower passenger processing rates for TSA screening due to new procedures. Three SSCP configuration scenarios were evaluated resulting in the recommendation for screening to expand in its current location. The expansion requires construction of a 16,000 SF airside addition and major reconfiguration of the existing space. The expansion also allows for adequate area to support passenger re-composure space as well as future TSA screening equipment layouts such as those associated with the Automated Security Lanes (ASL).

Justification:
Operations has identified recurring issues in the B Concourse inbound and outbound baggage system capacity. This project will improve the baggage capacity of level 1 of the B Concourse by reorganizing the area and/or adding exterior induction points for use by the ground handlers for wide body aircraft.
