Description:

Rehabilitate Taxiway (TW) R from approximately Taxilane (TL) P to TW Q and evaluate the storm drains with CCTV inspections and repair/replace as needed. Improvements include to replace taxiway edge and centerline lighting, taxiway guidance signs, pavement markings, and adjust utilities, as needed.

Justification:

The life expectancy of galvanized corrugated metal pipe is estimated to be between 20 to 40 years depending upon soil conditions. The trunk line that conveys the runoff from the east side of RW 15/33 and the west side of TW R was installed in 1980. The pipe system on the north side of TL U was also installed in the same era. The pipes in the area have reached the end of useful life while still being in a condition to provide the type of cost effective repair such as lining. The TW R CCTV inspection report prepared by Stephl in December 2022 showed significant pipe defects in 6 pipe segments, 1 pipe with signs of structural failure corrosion in 9 pipe segments, and numerous lesser pipe deficiencies. Six of the system manholes have cracked or broken pipe connections and 1 manhole needing a chimney replacement. In a separate report for TL U prepared again by Stephl in October 2023, showed significant pipe defects in 6 segments, 3 segments with corrosion and one segment having substantial reverse grade.
