Need Overview

Need Name: Rehabilitate Taxilane
Type:
Funding Source:
Category:
Sub Category:
Estimated Cost: $1,500,000
Description: The purpose of this project is to restore the useful life of the taxilane pavement in this area.
Priority: Short
Need Origination: M&O
Justification: This taxilane was last reconstructed in 2006. The Average PCI is 67. The taxilane pavement sees constant use from aircraft accessing both the FedEx lease lot and the Papa parking areas. The existing asphalt is showing signs of distress including rutting, longitudinal/traverse cracking, and raveling. Continued degradation of the pavement could result in potential damage to aircraft and surface transportation vehicles due to cracks, foreign object debris, and other impediments if the project is not implemented. Not performing this project will allow pavement conditions to deteriorate until the surface cannot support aircraft, thereby making the apron unusable. Lighting system was installed in 2006 and in need of rehabilitation. Field Maintenance has extended the life of this asphalt by performing preventative maintenance, including milling and re-paving. A pavement rehabilitation project is necessary to prevent a more expensive reconstruction project in the future.
