Justification:
The Cordova ARFF is in poor condition and has a number of structural defects. The outside wall siding has separated from the wall, exposing the structure to the elements; the exterior walls are rotting as a result. The roof and windows leak air and water causing significant interior water damage to walls and insulation. Black mold is also present. The floor is poorly sloped and floor drains have been plugged due to the lack of an oil separator, requiring personnel to push up to 3 inches of contaminated water out of the bay door, presenting issues for workers as well as the environment. The three forced air furnaces are inefficient and are maintenance intensive. The septic system must be manually pumped regularly. The overhead doors do not seal and are too small for the current ARFF equipment. Sufficiently sized water and chemical fire suppression tanks are needed on-site. The current flow rate of water requires 2.5 hours to fill the ARFF truck tank and only 90 seconds to empty in the case of aircraft accident.
