Justification:
Heavy maintenance is needed at this airport for safety. The operational surfaces were last improved in 1982. The operational surfaces are in poor and failing condition based on the June 2022 CIMP Inspection Report. There are significant surface variations and settlement cracking the length of the runway. The crown has been graded off and subbase is now exposed. Repairs are failing, surfaces are not compacted, and there are frequent soft spots. The airport is experiencing flooding due to ice dams during the annual breakup season. The fines have been washed out of the crushed aggregate surface course due to the flooding. The runway embankment is subsiding and the southeast runway embankment is beginning to be impacted by the Kuskokwim River. Available materials for repair are insufficient to armor the embankment.
