Need Overview

Need Name: Rehabilitate (seal coat) south terminal apron
Type:
Funding Source:
Category:
Sub Category:
Estimated Cost: $321,000
Description: This project will apply a sand seal and restripe surfaces of the south terminal apron.
Priority: Short
Need Origination: M&O
Justification: The main purpose of this project is to rejuvenate the asphalt surface to ensure the pavement reaches its useful life by helping to prevent additional weathering. Applying the sand seal coat will reduce the need for crack sealing, lessen premature raveling and protect the asphalt surface from distresses caused by freeze thaw cycles and maintenance activities such as snow removal. The age of these surfaces ranges from 9 to 16 years old with PCI values from 58 to 67, making this apron a good candidate for sand seal.
