Description:

This project proposes to rehabilitate the operating surfaces at the Kalskag Airport including the runway and runway safety area, taxiway and taxiway safety area, and apron. The runway safety area will be expanded to the standard dimensions for the critical aircraft. Visual aids will be replaced including the runway and taxiway lighting systems, primary wind cone, and supplemental wind cone.

Justification:

The airfield lighting system has not been updated since the airport was constructed and is beyond its useful life (10 years). Runway and taxiway lighting systems and visual aids are also in poor condition with dislodged and inoperative lights, exposed wiring, deteriorated wind cones, which now require replacement.
