a component of the
Alaska Aviation System Plan

Need Overview

Need Name: ALP update and wind study
Type:
Funding Source:
Category:
Sub Category:
Estimated Cost: $630,000
Description: The scope will include a wind study and airport layout plan (ALP). If an updated ultimate plan is warranted, based on the analysis of the new wind data, a new ALP will be developed to incorporate the wind data. If an updated plan is not warranted, the existing ALP will be as-built with the wind data.
Priority: Mid
Need Origination: Sponsor
Justification: The Kongiganak Airport does not have weather equipment and weather data from the Quinhagak Airport has been used on the most recent ALP. The Quinhagak Airport data shows the Kongignanak Airport does not have 95% wind coverage and a wind study is needed before implementing ultimate improvements at this remote airport. This update will perform a wind study to validate the current alignment for the runway and develop a new ALP, if needed, or as-built the existing ALP with the current wind data.
