Justification:
The existing signs are old and damaged from the severe elements of False Pass. There is limited signage on the airport now and we have an obligation to bring this airport up to the FAA's standards. False Pass is not a safe place for night operations due to winds, terrain, frequent adverse weather, and other. Lighted signs and/or runway lights may encourage reckless aircraft operations and lighting adds greatly to M&O costs.
