Rehabilitate the airport terminal, to include a new roof, replacement of any rotted wood, and upgrade of electrical/cable systems Priority: Short Need Origination: Community Justification: Bering Sea storms have damaged the building and roof leaks. There is water damage and the building is made of wood. Notes: 2022: Hello everyone, My name is Mark Merculief Jr, elected Mayor of Saint George, as of December of 2021. Thanks for the avenue of communication to you all, Roger. The airport facility has been damaged by high winds due to various Bering Sea storms. As a new official, I am unsure whom to look to for repairs. The roof leaks and the phones have not been working there for a few months. ACS (AK Communications Systems) was out here recently and stated that the fiber optic line for the phone to the airport was GCI's responsibility. Water damage in wood buildings usually lead to more problems if not addressed quickly in these harsh environments. Short of phone calls, that's all I have. I can get photos if those are wanted. Any direction on my part would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Mark Merculief. Saint George City - Mayor P.O. Notes:
2022 - Paul Khera, Southcoast Region Aviation Planner, spoke with the Mayor and explained the requirements for terminal funding of a non-DOT&PF owned Terminal including the AIP requirement for a co-sponsorship agreement. 8-8-23 Have not heard if PVB is still considering AIP Stimulus or maybe researching other funding opportunities. The existing terminal/passenger shelter is still in need of new roof and other repairs.
