Need Overview

Need Name: Reconstruct Runway Lighting
Type:
Funding Source:
Category:
Sub Category:
Estimated Cost: $925,000
Description: This project proposes to resurface the gravel runway, taxiway, apron, and access road. The runway surface will be widened to achieve crosswind coverage. Improvements include replacement of airfield lighting, markings, signs, and navigational aids. There will be erosion protection and obstruction removal.
Priority: Short
Need Origination: Sponsor
Justification: The airport's operational surfaces and access road are in fair to poor condition. Differential settling, irregular surfaces, and dips cause issues for pilots using the operational surfaces and for residents accessing the airport road. The runway and taxiway lighting systems are beyond their useful life and need to be replaced to maintain reliability for operations during nighttime and inclement weather. The current wind coverage is below FAA recommendations and widening will achieve the 95% goal.
Notes: CIPDS associated with 4/7/2022 APEB and submitted to FAA on 3/18/2022.
