Description:
This project proposes to rehabilitate the runway, taxiway, apron, NAVAID access paths/pads, and airport access road with crushed aggregate surface course and a dust palliative. The RSA will be widened and lengthened to meet ADG II standards. Reconstruct the airfield lighting system, segmented circle with lighted wind cone, and the existing unlighted wind cone. The existing rotating beacon, currently installed on the roof of the snow removal equipment building (SREB), will be replaced with a new rotating beacon on a tip-down pole.

Justification:
The existing operational surfaces on the airfield are in a deteriorated condition with uneven grades which cause ponding of storm water and snow melt. Additionally, the runway safety area (RSA) is sized for Airplane Design Group (ADG) I, but an increase of operations by larger aircraft has caused the critical aircraft for this airport to be upgraded to ADG II. The runway and taxiway lighting are beyond their service life and are in need of replacement. The segmented circle, lighted wind cone, and unlighted wind cone are aging and nearing the end of their useful life. Expected benefits from this project will include improved safety, improved surface grades and surface drainage, and extension of the airfield service life. Widening and extension of the RSA will bring the runway into compliance with FAA design standards. The expected grant year for this project is FFY 2026, but is contingent for FFY 2023, FFY 2024, and FFY 2025. It is anticipated to be ready for advertising in 2024.
