Justification:
The Girdwood Airport has seen private development in an area that was originally designated as multiple lease lots. The Airport Manager reports a much higher rate of helicopter use than 20 years ago than previously forecasted; the AMP was finalized in 2005. Land use surrounding the airport continues to grow; having a current land use plan and recommendations will benefit the airport in planning and use. The existing AMP was finalized in 2005 and the 2005 ALP was as-built in April 2020. Road access and other improvements that were recommended in the AMP were not constructed.
Notes:
AIP Handbook (Order 5100.38D, Change 1) Policies: Update intermodal connections available near the airport (b)(5), (b)(6), and (g)(1); foster effective coordination between DOT&PF and the City of Girdwood (g)(2)
