Sub Category:
Estimated Cost: $21,411,083
Description: Rehabilitate the runway, taxiway, safety areas, apron, and access road, and apply dust palliative. Place and compact crushed aggregate surface course. Repair poor drainage features that are worsening erosion on the operational surfaces of the airport and install additional culverts. Replace lighting system. Replace NAVAIDS and signage where needed. Remove and replace the existing damaged, heated SREB with a new unheated SREB with a floor. Construct an additional heated SREB for year-round storage of maintenance supplies and heavy operating equipment.
Priority: ASAP
Need Origination: Inspection
Justification: The airport runway, taxiway, safety areas, apron, and access road are in need of repair due to erosion and subsidence. Poor drainage and differential settling have caused frequent humps, depressions, ponding, and erosion of the operational surfaces and access road. The lighting system is compromised. Some lighting cans are dislodged, exposing wiring and conduit. The lighting system was installed in 2001 and is eligible to be replaced because it is beyond its useful life (10 years). The existing SREB was installed in 2001 and is in poor condition. Based on the August 2017 CIMP inspection, there is structural distress and the building is sinking. The doors do not open properly and have been damaged by vandalism. The metal floor is sloped and water does not drain. The standing water has caused rust and corrosion. There is also a significant amount of mold present in the building. The replacement SREB will be constructed in the same location.
