Justification:
Currently the capacity to store chemicals is limited to 40% of annual need, making operations more costly as we cannot buy in bulk ahead of time. Some chemicals have no storage tank but can only be stored in the truck itself. Freezing rain, climate change and Ice Control Requirements for the Dash 8 means our use of chemicals is increasing. There is no EEB currently. Homer electrical regulators are up above the bathroom in the Airport Manager's office building. Servicing them is precarious and dangerous requiring carrying equipment up an 8 foot ladder, balancing on a mezzanine, with less than adequate working clearances. There are no railings, handhold or proper stairs. This is an immediate hazard to staff. Additionally environmental filth in the area and the lack of a way to safely clean up there results in printed circuit failures and overheating. • This project needs to be re-evaluated due to continuing need and changes in technology and materials. Equipment size and amount has increased significantly, requiring a larger facility, as well as the capability to store chemicals for the most cost effective application.
