Justification:
The existing float at Metlakatla is oversized for the traffic it receives and is subject to damage from high winds and seas, particularly because it consists of three large floats joined together. This project will reduce the facility to one new, smaller float, eliminate the "wing" floats that are no longer needed, and rehabilitate the remainder of the existing facility to improve resiliency and sustainability.
