Description: Chignik is accessible by air and sea. There is a state-owned gravel runway maintained by the city. Regular flights run from King Salmon. Flights directly from Anchorage can be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Barge services arrive weekly, from late spring through early fall, and monthly during the remainder of the year. The state ferry operates bi-monthly from Kodiak between May and October. A 600' privately-owned dock and boat haul-out are available. A public small boat harbor accommodates more than thirty fishing vessels, and a regional public dock is under development. Four-wheel drive vehicles are the primary means of local transportation, ATVs are a secondary means, and skiffs are used to travel to surrounding communities.
