Description: Council is connected by road to Nome. There is a state-owned gravel airstrip, but it is not maintained in the winter. Air charter services are available from Nome. Snow machines are the main means of transportation during the winter. Nome residents visit the area to hunt and fish. In 2011, a Bering Sea storm washed out sections of the road from Nome but it has been repaired since that time.
